Bad Posture

A couple of years ago I finally bought what’s called a Display Tablet for doing my digital illustrations. In contrast to a graphic tablet, a display has a built in screen and it’s cool because you can see the illustration right under the stylus. I am pretty happy with it except for two things.

Bad Posture

I didn’t realize until a few days into it that I was suddenly having very bad posture when using the display tablet. The tablet, an XP-Pen, has legs in the back so you can tilt it but it’s not enough of an angle to stand mostly upright.

For my traditional illustration setup I have a surface that is maybe 70-90 degrees upright. So this works really well for being able to sit with a fairly straight back. But, I don’t know if I can get the same thing with a digital display.

Apple Monitor Limits

There’s also a limit on the number of monitors I can have connected to one computer. My setup is two monitors in front and my laptop to the side. But, when I want to use the drawing display, I have to turn off one of the monitors and transfer it there. I think I can mirror to one of the monitors but it didn’t always work and the resolution on the display is less than the monitor’s so the monitor mirror looked fuzzy.

So, for the next few weeks I’m going to use my old graphic tablet and see how it goes.
